AC booking class E Vs. UA booking class W?

  • I found the same fare, AC is E, UA is W. According to AP rule, E fare is Tango, does not get status miles. However, UA's (same price BC=W) get full mileage, even though it is the same flight, code share, and operate by AC.

    Can anyone confirm this? Am I better off booking through UA for a AC operated flight?

    I just saw the foot notes:

    ‡ For UNITED code-share flights operated by another Star Alliance airline, refer to the Aeroplan Miles section of the carrier operating the flight.

    I guess that will refer back to AC's Tango fare E, and I will not get status miles.
